At Anxiety Support Wales CIC, as counsellors, we noticed a growing number of clients struggling to cope and presenting with anxiety-induced issues, often leading to other mental health challenges. We also observed the lack of affordable support options for individuals on a lower income. This realisation prompted us, Sarah and Kimberly, to brainstorm the idea of group anxiety support.
Since then, our organisation has flourished, and we are proud to have an incredible team dedicated to working with the community of Swansea. Together, we have expanded our efforts and developed more projects to support both adults and young people in their journey towards better mental health and well-being.

Mark Saunders

Managing Director

‘I’m excited and looking forward to working with all the people involved with Anxiety Support Wales in my new role. Sarah and Kim asked me to share some information about myself so here goes.  I was born in the Rhonda and spent most of my early life there growing up and enjoying the close community ties and playing football every Saturday for the local team. I went to the local comprehensive school and from there went to the Polytechnic of Wales where I studied for a Humanities degree. I left the Valleys in my early 20s to move to Bristol where I spent 4 years continuing my studies and training to be a Baptist minister. I then had churches in Bristol before returning to South Wales to continue my ministry.  In 1996 I went to work for local government in the Swansea area working in Social Work where I have been for the past 25 years working in care sector. One of my main hobbies is travelling, when I get the time and enjoy exploring new countries. Last year we went to Tunisia where we experienced a camel ride for the first time, that was an experience! I also enjoy reading fictional historical thrillers and buying old Lego sets and piecing them together.  I am thrilled to be joining Anxiety Support Wales and look forward to meeting and working with lots of new people and doing my best to support them and further the work of the company.’

Sarah Saunders

Community Engagement Officer

‘Hello, I'm Sarah, a 54-year-old who has been working in the caring sector since I was 14. I have experience in both voluntary and professional roles in hospital homes, mostly in mental health care. I truly enjoy my work and find fulfillment in helping people. In addition to my work, I volunteered at Friends of the Young Disabled between the ages of 14 and 21. Outside of work and volunteering, I have a passion for traveling and try to fit in as many holidays as I can. I am a family-oriented person and cherish spending time with my loved ones.‘
